My First Encounter with Tubes

I still remember the first time I really sat and listened to a tube amplifier. It was at a mate’s place in the late ’70s.

We were sprawled out in beanbags, a milk crate full of LPs beside us, and when the music started, I couldn’t believe how alive it felt. It was only 10 watts RMS per channel, yet the sound carried something beyond the numbers — a warmth and presence that changed the way I thought about listening forever.

That was the awakening: tubes do something that specs alone can’t explain.

Tube amplifiers don’t just reproduce music — they breathe life into it. Over the years, we’ve sold many different tube amps, and while we’ve enjoyed most, some have left a lasting impression more than others.

The trouble is, traditional tube designs often lean towards rugged and industrial. Protection cages usually hide the magical glow of the tubes, and aesthetics are rarely a priority. Function tends to win over form.

About 18 months ago, we set out in search of something different — a tube amplifier that delighted both the ears and the eyes. That’s when we discovered Fezz Audio, and for the first time, brought their products into WA.

Designed by the creative duo Katarzyna Borkowska and Tomasz Pydo of KABO & PYDO, Fezz amplifiers bring fresh, elegant curves, simple design cues, and a bold choice of colours. Uniquely, they even look better with their protective cages on — a first for us.

Behind the visuals, Fezz amplifiers are designed and manufactured in Poland by a passionate team led by owner Maciej Lachowski. Their dedication shows in every detail.
