A Week of Turntables, Craftsmanship & Something Truly Special
November 28, 2025A Standout Setup in a Busy Week
It has certainly been a massive week here, with the workshop buzzing from sun-up to well past close. We’ve been assisting clients with everything from setting up turntables freshly unpacked after international moves, to upgrading cartridges, to pairing enthusiasts with their next complete deck. There’s something uniquely satisfying about helping someone bring their analogue world to life — the ritual, the precision, the joy of that first needle drop.
But among all the jobs that came through the door, one setup in particular stood out.
We had the pleasure of assembling a truly remarkable turntable, tonearm, and cartridge combination for a discerning music lover with a deep appreciation for fine engineering.
The Woodpecker, the HAWK & the AC-6
The centerpiece was the Dr. Feickert Woodpecker, requested in the elegant Black Deck selection and further elevated with the Brass Inlay Inertia Platter and striking Tineo timber inlay. It’s one of those designs where you can’t decide whether to listen to it or just admire it — a turntable that balances form and function effortlessly.
To this, we fitted the superb Auris HAWK 12″ Tonearm. Crafted in Serbia with exceptional attention to detail, the HAWK is a work of mechanical art — smooth, precise, and undeniably musical.
And perched at the very front: the Accuphase AC-6 Moving Coil Cartridge, a piece that needs no introduction to those who’ve experienced Accuphase engineering before. Its ability to extract micro-detail while maintaining warmth and musicality is something you simply have to hear to fully appreciate.
This combination was a first for us, but after spinning some of our trusted test tracks once the setup was complete, it quickly became clear — this trio works in absolute harmony. And it won’t be the last time we recommend this configuration.
A week like this reminds us why we love what we do. Helping bring incredible music systems to life and seeing the joy they bring never gets old.
Happy Listening.
Cheers, Dave.
