Elac Uni-Fi Slim is here!

At last, after what seemed an eternity of waiting in excited anticipation, the much applauded ELAC Uni-Fi Slim range of speakers have arrived in Australia. And what a treat they are. Andrew Jones and his team have solved the one issue most of us in the industry whined about with the original Debut range – fit and finish. Of course, there is no concern that the Debut series will fall apart mid-way through the 1812 Overture, far from it in fact! The Debut series was an exercise in making the most incredible-sounding speaker at the most attractive price possible, which they did, there was simply no room for bespoke timber or multiple glossy layers. With the Uni-Fi Slim range, no such restrictions were imposed on the team except for keeping with the ethos of affordability. What has been achieved is the fantastic Uni-Fi Slim range.

Boasting European design sensibilities, a very attractive footprint (dare I say it, Slim?) and a new concentric design that allows all the acoustic energy to hit the listeners ears at the same time, these speakers are making serious waves in the market. The reviews are unanimous – they are a hard speaker to beat for the money, and even outperform some of their more expensive peers. The range is small, consisting of the BS U5 bookshelf, CC U5 centre and FS U5 floorstanders. All models are a true 3-way design and available in both a beautiful satin Black or White finish. Despite keeping affordability in mind, we have some newly designed binding posts that wouldn’t look out of place on a speakers costing five times’ more, as are the bases and feet.

We’ve had a couple of weeks to play with them in-store and bottom line is, we’re impressed! Use a quality amplifier with plenty of drive (the more the better) and you will be rewarded with a lush, rich sound with fantastic imaging ability. Available for audition in our Nedlands showroom.
